About Walking:

“We were sitting in front of the piano and played different chords. How does chords sound if there is only one chord played over a long time. Is there, for example, a difference between an A or a G, if you only play one chord? Sounds a G perhaps happier than another if you don't have changes? So the idea was born to write a song based on one chord. We decided to take a G chord.
After Firemen's Parade On Main Street we enjoyed to play an only-one-chord song... but finally the other instruments and especially the voices move this one G chord in different directions and moods. In the last part, the song turns suddenly into other harmonics...
the lyriks are about the fight with life and the meaning of music for us. How music saves you and destroys you... and saves you again.…”

BIO
(ENG): The Berlin based band La Batterie was formed in 2006 by Anne Paschvoß and Pascal Aperdannier. Between 2006 and 2007 they released the first two albums “Something Sweet And My Telephone“ and “He Ate A Lamp Now He's A Fan“. After touring europe and a two-year break, they started again and recorded their third album. It took them 2 years until releasing “Firemen's Parade On Main Street“. With this album, La Batterie turned into a new way in songwriting and sound.
After being on stage in a threesome with Mario Aperdannier, Pascal’s brother, they became “four“ with Marcel Amsbeck. At the moment La Batterie are working on their fourth album.

La Batterie don't emanate from the idea of a band, but rather from the idea of the song, which is conceived from the outset as an open structure, a domain in which to batten ideas. The songs are images in which divergent spaces, moods and colours confront and play off each other without ever full coalescing. Elements of avant-garde and pop history shine through in their music. Each song opens the door to a unique universe of constructivist eccentricity. La Batterie write songs with the understanding that melancholy can only be opposed with ideas. That the struggle of this process remains audible and is flaunted with relish, accounts in some small measure for the allure and special charm of La Batterie.

And My Telephone“ and “He Ate A Lamp Now He's A Fan“.
